History

The century-old pine trees in the park are the first to greet guests as they arrive at the Cenobio dei Dogi, gathering them under their umbrella of cool green branches.
These same trees witnessed the birth of the hotel, halfway through the last century, when Camogli was a simple fishing village thriving on its maritime traditions, not so different from the enchanting town we know today.
In this idyllic spot, surrounded by the nature of mount Portofino and Paradise Gulf, time somehow seems to stand miraculously still.
Back in the 16th century, this same magical sensation that today attracts visitors from all over the world, prompted the aristocratic Genoese doges to create on this spot their cenobio, a gathering spot where they could retreat to regenerate both body and spirit, leaving the problems of everyday life behind them. Priests and cardinals were also frequent guests, and it was for them that the chapel that still stands today was built.
