Genoa

The heart of the town is its historical centre, the widest in Europe, closed between the sea and the hills; here majestic and splendid palaces rise between narrow alleys in a bustling atmosphere. Genoa increased its power in the past centuries especially thanks to the commercial activities in the port and to the noble families, so that the town gained the title of “Superba” (superb, proud). 2004 Genoa was European capital of Culture and 2006 UNESCO declared Genoa and the Rolli Palaces world human heritage.
Genoa itself is strictly bounded to history and to the sea, in fact it gave birth to Cristoforo Colombo. Nowadays Genoa offers the tourists a wide choice of activities. First of all the Aquarium, one of the biggest and most modern structures of this kind in Europe, whose tanks reproduce both Mediterranean Sea and world Oceans habitats.
We can’t of course forget important museums, such as “Galata” Museum of the sea, and contemporary art museum.
